Bodinnick to Portsmouth 26/7/13

We had a lovely time in Bodinnick and the surrounding areas. We went to the Eden Project. That's an amazing place. It's a rain forest and Mediterranean environment housed under enormous geo domes. It's at the bottom of a spent china clay pit and is absolutely incredible. They also have a sky wire which enables you to fly over the geo domes (bottom photos, the fliers are very small).

It was tricky driving to the Eden Project, lots of very narrow single track roads again. Scary! When we got back we went over to Fowey on the ferry and explored that village. It was larger than Bodinnick but the streets remained as steep and narrow!

We went on a boat trip around the harbour area of Fowey. It is a deep river and has the ships that transport the china clay in it. They are quite big! They load up and sail to Germany. It is a very pretty harbour, Kenneth Graham based The Wind in the Willows here and Daphne du Maurier lived in the house opposite our hotel and wrote here too.

Daphne du Maurier's house ( still owned by the family).

Our hotel, The Old Ferry Inn. Our room is the one right at the top. Sadly we had to leave and make our way to Portsmouth. We really loved Cornwall. It is a beautiful place.

  2. I'm sure you both had fun on the sky wire.....I'm sure you were first in line- NOT.
Safe trip to Ireland. We will miss you both tomorrow but I shall have a champers for you ( or a an olive at the very least). Glad you got to 'mess around in boats' or watch them anyway.
