The Tate Britain

A wetter morning this morning after beautiful weather the last week or so. We set off for the Tate Britain gallery at Pimlico.

We met some lovely gardeners on the way to the station. They were changing all the fabulous planter boxes and window boxes on the hotels and apartments. Apparently they do this 3 times a year, spring, summer and autumn. They were great guys - pleased we'd stopped for a chat.
Got to the Tate Britain about 11.00 and stayed there pretty well all day. A great gallery. They have an exhibition of the history of British painting, from 1540 to the present day. Really excellent. Had lots of GG's favourites. They also hold pretty well every Turner painting in existence(more than 37,000 pieces) luckily only a small selection was on display in their gallery space devoted to Turner. Again, a fantastic display.
As there are no photos of the Tate Britain I have included the photo of the little mouse that ran across our path as we were leaving.

I have also included some photos of the very superior beings who were attending the garden party at Buck House, yesterday. A small selection from the 8000 who were invited. Not sure where our invite was. Lost in the mail I guess!

They obviously were intending to have a wonderful time and were very dressed up. The streets were decorated with huge Union Jacks and the police were very busy ensuring that only the 'right' people attended. It was a gorgeous day for a garden party. 25 degrees with a breeze. Those Brits sure do parks and gardens (parties included),very well.
